What We Do
FOLKLAND – International Centre for Folklore and Culture is a UNESCO-accredited NGO, focusing primarily on promoting and developing traditional folk arts and culture along with sustainable environmental activities. Folkland is a society registered under the Indian Societies Act on 1860 and established in 1989.
The key philosophy of the organization is to promote, create awareness and educate the Significance of “Conserve and Sustain” in intangible Cultural Heritage & Biodiversity. Since its inception, the organization has imprinted its growth, especially in the fields of Conservation Research and Documentation of Natural, Mixed and Vernacular Tangible – Intangible Heritages, Traditional Folk Arts, and Crafts & Culture of Kerala.
Folkland is an active member and beneficiary of various National agencies like Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Natak Academy, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) and NABARD; we have also represented India in various national as well as international forums like ICHCAP-UNESCO, IOV, ICCN, ICCR and more.
